Curb weight on a 1999 4x4 reg cab longbed V8 F150 is only 4,500#. The gross weight is what? 6,000 or a bit more? They designed a truck with 500# passenger+cargo capacity?

Gross is 6500, '02 Supercab's curb weight is 4,744. That is a stripped truck, most trucks have drivers and some extra stuff in them.

My weigh in was more of a real world weigh in. I didn't gut them and take off the hitches, grille guard, bedliners put the stock tires back on and stand beside the truck to see if they were lying when they rated the curb weight. That is how they sat at the time with me at the wheel, if anything the Ranger should have had more extra stuff on it at the time than the F-150.
