yah i dont really know why now but i did get the thing rebuilt for 3000. it now has a shift kit and updated off set bell housing which had to be machined.i was told the center bore of the bell housings for the 4.0l wasnt dead on and made it so the shaft contacted one side of it all the time which made it leak through and slip.it was highly recomended by the shop i went too which seemed to know alot about a4lds. well see how long it lasts now but if it goes again than scew it thats it. do it right or dont do it at all

$3000 would have bought a really nice truck...or a V8 drivetrain swap...or an M5OD swap...just sayin

They ripped you off. I think if they knew that the A4LD was a POS they would have recommended not to rebuild it...I hope you got a good warranty.
