91 and a 89? theres some harness variance but critical controls are same.

i am guessing you mean hook the 4.9 eec harness to the 2.9 computer, or use and modify the 2.9 eec harness and set the 4.9 pcm in the 2.9 harness.
if the 4.9 has a e4od you need to use the 4.9 system intact and set it up stand alone....which is what i would do. just hook it up to key power when you swap the ranger cab on....remove just the eec system from the ranger, leave all the rest of the underhood ranger stuff intact so lights and shit work fine, on those years its likely the 150 tail harness(rect 10 or 12 pin) will plug right into your ranger harness and work out ok....fuel pump is similar too.
if the 4.9 is a manual or non computer controlled automatic it can work either way.
well its a 4.9l with zf going into 4.0 ranger. my plan is to get 4.9l computer and swap it into my ranger. just swaping out the computers and using the 4.9l wiring harness is the plan i have
