*Did you properly torque the nut?
*Are you buying cheap parts?
*Do you have obscenely backspaced wheels?

Does the box say Made in China?

parts are duralast not ebay china specials nut torqued proper and backspace is fine my question is why are there shims in between the hub assembly and the cv shaft

Just to give you an idea of Duralast quality, I had to warranty my CV axle on my Escape again today. And mind you, I bought the new Duralast Gold axle. The original one I bought was in June of 2010. Today was the THIRD one I have had now. They are garbage. The boots are too brittle. Every one has cracked (even OEM - but it lasted over 100k) the boot and spit out all the grease.

I strongly suggest Timken bearings or Raybestos Professional Grade.

As stated earlier, I'd first look into buying a better bearing. If that doesn't work, look into replacing the shaft along with a new set of bearings.

oh the cv shaft was replaced with napa's brand butstill even autozones should last more the 40 miles i think that the shims are there for back pressure against the bearing

well i put in a new bearing and shims in between the bearing and the cv shaft

I have replaced a couple bearings and/or CV axles on Explorers and never seen a shim, nor have I had issues. Just an FYI that Timken and National sometimes use SKF as a supplier.

i think the shims are their toeliminate the gap in between the hub and cv axle caused by the lift
