Hey everyone, I was just surfing around for a suspension kit for my 02 4.0 4x4 and Ive seen the 3 '' spindles for a 2 wheel drive. My question is can you swap the 4x4 spindle for the 2x4 if you remove the cv axles? and i know you will lose 4x4 but i was thinking about making it into a prerunner anyways, I just dont have 3500 dollars to spend?

Thanks

A 2" lift for your truck comes pretty cheap, a tt and an add-a-leaf/6400 shackle will get you doing a bit better.

The next cheap fix for added height is a body lift which you can get for under $250 and will net you 3" of up factor. then upgrade to 32" or 33" rolling gear for a beefy look.

aside from that the next step up is the superlift which gets ya up 4" for $1500.

do a combo the torsion twist and the body lift and im sure you will be happy with the result. oh ya, and you will still have your 4x4, which is always better :D.

However on this note, if your serious intention is to build a pre-runner, you might consider not dismantling your 4x4, and looking into a 97 and down 2wd with low miles in good condition to build off of. you can get more money out of a fully functioning truck and use that to fuel more parts for your project.

just looked at the superlift kit and i dont think that would work.

Why is that?
What are you trying to accomplish with the extra height, if you don't mind me asking? Are you after a look, or some added function (ground clearance), or are we after articulation?

For articulation, you really have a hard time beating TTB, our IFS is just not the same animal. For ground clearance, the biggest way you can add it is the larger tire. the larger tire is something a body lift and a torsion twist can supply.

Edit: i see through some of your past post that you already have a index key and an add a leaf, and are possibly running 33's? is this correct? If so the body lift will be a pretty cheap option, and if your after a little extra lift, pick up an beltech 6400 for your rear (1.25" lift+ better articulation) and your truck should sit pretty mean.

I was really just trying to get higher up. just trying to see if theres a cheap way out but even if i swap to 2wd spindles i think ill have to change my rotors and the lifted spindles aint cheap either. So I can only wish for a long travel kit.
