Well after another day of forum browsing and picture viewing i think im going for 33's at least! I am really suprised how good even 35's fit these trucks but dont know if i could bring myself to go that big. The truck i just picked up is a bone stock 98 4x4 and I had planned on starting with just a 3 inch body lift and 31's, will 33's clear fine with that same lift? Should i consider a gear change and if so, what one?

Thanks,

Blake

33's will clear just fine with a 3" body lift and I would do slight torsion crank just to level the truck out. The gearing depends on what the truck has now and what engine/trans you have.

if you plan on driving on the highway alot i would really think of regearing and yet like stated above it really depends on the motor and trans you have if you have a 4cyl or3.0v6 i with manual you might be ok but you will loose alot of power 4.0 you wont have to worry bout those tires at all

The truck has the 3.0 v6, manual 5 speed. Any ideas on gearing?

I have 3.73's and 31's with a 3.0L 5spd and I do just fine?:icon_confused:
65+ around small hills and stuff.

If you go 33's and only have 3.73's you need gears and if you get gears go with 4.56's. If you already have 4.10's I would just leave them be unless you really don't like it.... Then get 4.56's and give me the 4.10's. lol

Thanks for all the info guys, i think i'm going with the 4.56.

Appreciate the help,

Blake

What rear axle do you have? I have a set of 4.56 for sale.

Hey Tom,

Not sure, the truck is completely stock. I just read on the forums that there is suppose to be an identification plate stamped on the back of the axle, if that that has the info you need lemme know, ill climb under there today.

No problem bud. They've been here for sale over a month now anyway. LOL!
