A" newbie" question. I am looking at a 99 Ranger XLT 4 x 4 that has a 3 inch body lift on it. When I was under the truck, I noticed that both outer cv boots looked like somebody pulled them off the joint (like the shafts were extended beyond their limit) Would the body lift had anything to do with this? Also noticed the shocks have been changed. Just not sure what would have caused this? Also when driving.. The shift from 1st to 2nd (auto) was excessively harsh. After that ok. Didn't matter if it was shifting up or down Thoughts?
Thanks in advance for any infromation given.
This looks like the site to learn from :icon_thumby:

It's a BODY lift, it doesn't change the suspension geometry whatsoever.

The shocks were changed... whats your point?

If the trans is shifting funny don't buy it.

If the truck was up on jackstands and the suspension was able to drop down farther than normal. when changing the shocks?

having it on jack stands would not extend the cv shaft way to far especially on a stock suspension. They are probably torn out just from driving. If the trans if rough you better be getting this thing for dirt cheap.

Take somebody along with you who knows more about suspensions. Your wallet will be very happy in the long run. Don't buy anything if you are not sure if there is a problem with something. You don't want an expensive repair job for something you thought was going to be a fun dd, right?
Hope this helps you oout...Good luck with finding your new truck and enjoy the ride, Bro.
