Hey there, havent been on here in a while so i figured id come back and check everything out again. I was just wondering tho, does anybody know where i could possibly get an aftermarket fan shroud for my 4.0L? i recently put on a 3" bodylift and my new 33x12.50R15 toyo MT's and i need to solve this cooling issue now, especially since its summer time and i would like to use my A/C alot more. If anyone could help me out with this that would be greatly appreciated. I've thought about an electric fan but dont have that kinda cash right now to fork out for one.

hmm...I've not had a fan shroud since about 06 when the truck had about 60k on the clock. Havn't had ANY issues what so ever....EVEN when wheelin' AND the A/C on... Just leave it as-is.

And electric fans suck ass anyway.

I dont want to leave it as is. the reason is because normally it runs at about 200 - 205 degrees. but on a hot day with a/c on and sitting in traffic it climbs to about 210 or higher and even once you start moving doesnt go down much, so i need to get that fan shroud on because i dont want my engine running that hot

Mine has run at 205-210 for the last 6 years. Its not going to be an issue. I havn't had a shroud on mine since I put the body lift on either.

Yeah but when it starts climbing above 210 thats when it becomes an issue. i dont like the idea of it getting that high. i would rather have my engine run more around 195-200. if i cant really find one to buy im pretty sure my gf's dad will help me make a custom one. just didnt really wanna bother him with this

Why do you think this?

When I did my body lift it came with drop down brackets for the radiator and used my factory shroud, until I put an ELECTRIC fan on

I've had HUGELY bad experiences with them on my Ranger. I used quality flex-o-lite brand fans too. The fans never failed, but I did have overheating issues off road compared to the clutch mechanical fan. But what did fail were those damn controller boxes. I redid my wiring 3 times, used 3 different boxes and kept getting the same unresponsive result. I know what I'm doing, so that wasn't the issue.

Shoot...one night wheeling i was so fed up, I literally ripped the fan off the truck, threw it, and we put it on my buddy's SBC toyota who's fan took a dump.

Only way I'd do it again is if I used an actual temp sending unit for accurate temperature readings to tell the controller box to turn it on or off.

Yea i'm not fan of electric fans either. Just last weekend we were out on a shake down run for my buddys new SAS ranger. He's running a 5.0L in it and his brand new $300 flex-a-lite electric fan shorted out internally and burnt up the wiring. Sounds like the brushes came apart in it. Ruined a good day of wheeling.

If you bought a performance accessories body lift it came with radiator drop brackets to fix this issue. If not, you might be able to get ahold of the company for replacement parts...shouldnt be expensive.

I read on a different forum that if you put the stock one in up side down, it won't hit the fan. you just have to find a good way to hook it on their.
