would it be possible to put a 3.8 out of a thunderbird into a 90 bronco 2? if so would anything match up as far as transmission and all?

3.0 and 3.8 are pretty much the 2.9 and 4.0 in terms of their relationships. I think it would work about as well as a 3.0 and would probably work with a 3.0 tranny.

My big reservation would be that the 3.8 tends to warp heads.

hmm, well i dont need any more engine problems than i already have so ill just keep lookin for a 4.0. thanks

Yeah, if you already have a 2.9 the 4.0 will be a much better and much easier swap for you anyway.
