Are the 3.8 V6 and 5.0 bellhousing patterns the same and bellhousings then interchangeable?

If so could a person run a C5 automatic with lockup torque convertor behind a v8? Just use the 3.8 parts?

Just curious about how they were put together. Thought this would be the right venue for this particular question.

bell housings are different but a v-8 c4 bellhousing will bolt up to a c5. Main difference is the pan and valve body. Dont know about the converter but c4 converters shouldnt be hard to find.

rwd 3.8 are same as 5.0. c5 will work too.

I think it's still true for those looking for a two wheel trans replacement for the Explorer 4x4 trans, they use the 4R70W out of the 3.8.

Good info. I figured they were different
