So I have a side project a 47 crosley coupe and I was thinking a 3.4l v8 from a Taurus might fit nicely. Obviously we are going to do a custom chassis etc. Has anyone ever made that motor a work in a Rwd configuration? What transmission options would there be? Either auto or manual will be fine, I haven't seen one of these up close, I doubt they are a traditional 90° v8 bell. Anyone?????

Wasn't there a major reliability issue with those? It's been a long time, but I vaguely remember a catastrophic cam timing issue or something.

Yeah you have to weld the cams, they were just pressed on.... not a big deal. Its a quick resto mod for sale car. I have been reading the 2.5 duratec and 3.0 duratec share the same bell pattern. If any of you guys have any 2.5 duratec transmissions lying around can you measure it for me? I still have to track down a 3.4 Taurus for a donor. And measure the bolt pattern....

lincoln ls and bird have drivetrains and dress for it.

cam welding mandatory.

Going out on a limb here...

I dont think any us cars with have a matching bolt pattern. 3.4L is small for an american v8, but not for a euro v8. (Ah la Jaguar.) Ford shared tech with Jag when they were all tangled up. Maybe check for a rwd jag with a similarly displaced v8 and see if that's a match.

I would but we don't have many jags floating around them there parts...

There's always 241 hemi. Mines around the same size as a sohc.

I could probably track down a 3.9 Lincoln ls cheaper than a tbird.

Quad4rods had a Duratec V-5 to T-5 bellhousing, but they don't seem to exist anymore.

I think that 3.4l v8 would be a perfect fit though

EDIT: This is the SHO V6, not V8. Also this has an adapter. However, the SHO V8 does share bellhousing pattern with Duratec V6s.

I'm relatively certain that the Ranger 3.0 M5OD bolts up.

The SHO v8 or V6 will bolt up to the M5OD?
