if i switch my 3.0 auto from 3.45 to 3.73 will it be that big of a difference in a dd/ offroader? my end result after lift will probably be 31's but for right now ive got 235-70-15

Yep, that's the way I'd go, get the 8.8 while you are at it.Being it a 2wd I would just find a complete rear end to swap in with 4.10's.

Dunno, I ran 235's on my 3.0L Ranger with 3.73s and was plenty happy with it. Of course, I also had the 5-speed....I consider MINIMUM gear for a 3.0 with 235's to be 4.10's
