I have a 93 with the 3.0L and 5spd. I need a new radiator, i was wondering what larger rads fit? there is not much info on different radiator swaps in the tech library.

i was thinking that a explorer 5.0L rad would likely be the largest, but i'm not sure if it will fit in my core support.

Thanks in advance!

thanks for the info and the tip on the shroud.

what temp thermostat do you run?

thanks,

I had the 1 row from Ford when I bought my 94 new and in 99 I wanted to upgrade. I had the same thoughts what fits? I did some checking around and I bought a new 2 row radiator that would fit into a 94 Explorer. It bolted right up even both coolant hoses fit just right. The 1 row fan shroud did not fit. I went to the junkyard and got a fan shroud from a 92-94 Explorer that had a 2 row radiator in it. Did a couple of test fits before I installed it into my 94 since I pulled my radiator back out. I have been running that setup for 10 years now and my truck has run so much cooler no matter if I am sitting in traffic in 110* day. Even on very cold days it's still much better then the 1 row I had. I have no AC that is not the reason, I just wanted a bigger radiator that would help my 3L run cooler.

It didn't have hooks for trans lines by chance did it?

I had a 94 Ranger 3.0 auto ac.
I put a radiator for a 94 explorer auto ac in it. I got it off of ebay for like 90 bucks, far less than any 3.0 rad I could find.
The stock shroud would not fit.
The stock fan clutch just barely fit. VERY close.

Just BE careful with the hose outlets.

4L and 3L rads swap back and forth.

I once got a dual row off a 93' 4.0 auto Ranger. The outlets were angled differently than my 3L 5spd. My hoses would not fit correctly.

But, once had an explorer rad and another time a Ranger rad that had the straight outlets like my 3L rad has. So, go figure.
