3.0l Problems

I have a 2003 Ranger 2wd auto with a 3.0l v6, would like to replace the complete engine with another 3.0l, but can't find one out of a Ranger. Will any other 3.0l engines bolt in, don't have a problem changing intakes-oil pans etc.

The Taurus used it for a lot of years.
I'd guess any longblock after 96 would adapt.

The 3.0 Vulcan was used in many other Fords. The longblocks for those are basically the same and should bolt into a ranger with minor modifications (intake/exhaust manifolds,etc.) Ford also used a 3.0 duratec engine in several vehicles. The duratecs have NOTHING in common with our engine, so make sure you get a Vulcan 3.0 and not a Duratec 3.0 if you go pulling an engine from another vehicle.

Thank you for your help. I've found a 2002 taurus automatic with low miles, please post if you don't think it will bolt to my bellhousing. If the Valcan engine bolts to both front and rear wheel drive applications Ford did right.

Glad to help. I should have mentioned this in my first post, but the Taurus/Sable came with both the Vulcan 3.0 and the Duratec 3.0 starting around 98 I believe. Just make sure you get the right one, and it will all work out!
