3.0 with 33s

i have a 3.0 with 200,000 miles, put a body lift on it and wana get 33s but everythinks that my motor will either not turn them or blow...any one got any suggestions for me?
 
the 3.0 liter will be able to turn t but you are gona have problem, i have a 94 with 33. and i have install 4.56 gear with locker front end rear, you can have lot of fun. i have them for sale at this time front end rear.
 
so u think with gears and lockers i wouldnt have a problem ****in up my engine?
 
You're not going to blow your engine. What idiots are you talking to?

All it'll do is give your engine less leverage over your tires. The truck will feel a bit more sluggish. This is why gears come into play. They'll restore the leverage and make the truck less sluggish.

4.10's would help, 4.56's would be better, and 4.88's would be ideal.

What gearing do you have now?
 
i have a 1999 ranger with the 3.0 auto and i have 32x11.50s on it and it does fine

I've got 4.10's and 32's and it's fine. 4.56's will do great, but 4.10's will be fine with 33's. Too much taller of a gear and I'd worry about it a lil... but no more than I worry about African midgets dressed as clowns wielding samurai swords attacking me while I'm in church.
 
true, true, but u gota think i have 200,000 miles on my motor, i think everyones tryin to say is any more stress on the motor n it mite blow it
 
i either got 3.73s or 4.10s wat evers stock, havnt checked it out yet
 
Does your engine sound like it could cook off every time you hit the stupid pedal?

If not, you're fine. Mileage doesn't always correlate to the actual condition of the engine.
 
200K is breaking a 3L in.

Heres, the thing, it could have either. Assuming it is a 7.5rear end, if it is a 5-speed it is very likely 3.73. If it is auto, it could go either way. Check the door sticker, and then check here...

As far as blowing your engine... don't worry about it. 200k for a 3.0 is just getting broken in. It may be slow... i mean sllllllloooooooowwwwwwww, but its strong.
 
I got 32s on 3.73s in my 3.0 5spd. its a dog, and i popped my spider gears, but it gets around on flat ground ok. you can forget about a hill though, and you see that number 5 on the shifter? no longer exists to you. 4th is enough to keep the revs down though. im actually going down to a 30x9.50 soon. 4.10s or 4.56s should be the right choice if you do regear
 
As if 5th was useful before....lol.

I'm wanting to run 31's or 32's with my 4.10's, just as soon as my 235's wear out.
 
I got 31's and 3.73's and hope to get 4.10's. Its a little sluggish but not much slower then it was with the 225's. But I would definately agree get 4.56's if you have 3.73's, and I would just leave them alone if you have 4.10s unless you got the extra money. I'm biased though (college student lol)

lol so true.

i have 3.73 and 31's. 5th gear is almost useless to me unless i'm on a downhill or level with a tail wind. right now i can go just the same in 4th as 5th.

i want to swap to 4.56 gears, that will basically replace 4th gear with 5th. that will allow me to take off from a stop sign with out burning up my clutch when towing my boat.
