2006 Ranger 3.0 - Fan clutch was a pain to remove, ended up cutting it off. In the process the water pump/fan pulley got mangled. I've been searching everywhere for a replacement but everywhere I look it's showing as discontinued... There must be an alternate part number out there that will fit properly, what's everyone doing for a replacement water pump pulley?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is the part number I've been working with: F69Z-8509-AA

*Scrap yard is my last resort option - I'd really prefer to buy new if possible.

A part that rarely fails and is that old, probably used is your only choice. Be more careful next time :)

I did a little digging. That part number supposedly fits 95-08. Same thing with the water pump. If I look up a 1996 Ranger 3.0 I get another part # F2TZ-8509-A Also discontinued but maybe something to go on?

Also Dorman makes one for the Taurus/Sable 3.0 in the same year range. (96-07) 300-944 It at least has dimensions. Is there enough left of yours to measure? If so it might be possible to buy one based on dimensions.

I find it interesting that such a simple item is NLA. RockAuto has water pumps with fan clutches already attached that are missing the pulley in the photo. Why?

I might have one. I need to remember to look tomorrow afternoon.

I definitely would have been more careful if I had known it wasn't readily available (should have checked beforehand) I know it's an old truck but it's quite a popular truck, not to mention the fact that you can literally find any other pulley at most auto part stores it seems odd to me that nobody out there is making them anymore.

I'll be looking into that Taurus pulley otherwise the auto salvage will be my next stop. Thanks for the responses!

Sorry I forgot about this the other day. Just looked and I don't see it in any of my parts boxes.

I nearly resorted to the hack saw trying to remove my fan clutch too as there were no bolts protruding enough to wedge a bar in anywhere useful... I ended up using a big chain wrench around the pulley and the clutch came right off, just left a few minor dings on the pulley grooves which I filed off.
Might come in handy at the scrapyard/u-pull as that's where I'd look for a replacement too.

I'll definitely keep that in mind, the recessed bolts are a poor design choice for sure.

I've seen tutorials that suggest sticking a prybar between the bolts to lock the flange in place - the thing I found is that on the factory water pump, the bolts are flush or recessed as you said. On (some) aftermarket pumps the flange is (or can be) thinner and the bolts protrude enough to get a grip.
In my case it sure was pretty dang frustrating. Several 8-letter words were definitely said.

FWD pumps are smaller bolt circle and pilot. Will not fit.

What part of "it never breaks" was unclear? Nobody is going to manufacture something that doesn't sell.

Wrap a scrap of serp belt around the pulley to protect it and use a chain wrench.

Have to keep that in mind as my 04 with3.0L is getting a little long in the tooth 350,000 miles
