i need to replace 2 of my valve spring that are causing a misfire does anyone know if anyone makes a high performance valve spring for the 3.0.

For A direct drop in replacement, the answer is no, You can make the Chevy LS beehive springs work, but they have approximately 37-38% more seat pressure for the same compressed height. You will then need to change the lifters to a "performance SBF" type roller lifter or the increase in valve spring pressure will cause the stock lifter to collapse some when the truck is idling & you will have valve train noise. Trust me, it was not a worn out lifter problem. It is all possible as this is just what I did on my new motor along with valve train upgrades, but nothing is a direct replacement, except for the SBF lifters. They are exact the same only with stiffer internal springs & better oil control / bleed-off features. If you need a set of the stock Beehive Ford springs let me know, I have a set that came out of the 2007 motor, they have less than 10K on them. I am sure we can work out a good price for you.

3.0 valve spring swap

While I was rebuilding the heads on my 99 3.0 I noticed the valve springs looked very similar to a set of smal block chevy valve springs I had sitting on my shelf. The diameter and the install heigth are the same and they produce about 25% more preasure at the seat then the stock spring. The only thing you need to do is remove the inner flat spring. Now they will fit the stock spring retainer perfectly! I have been running these on my rebuilt motor with 1.7 roller rockers for a thousand miles with no problems.
Good luck

Crane Cams had some high performance replacements... but S&S cycle bought them when they went under and I'm not sure if S&S will continue to make these.

Were those the 3.0 Beehive spring heads or the regular coil? Anyway that is good info.

What's wrong with OE replacement ones?

I needed stiffer springs for the blower, it would blow them off the seats & start floating the valves at 13-14 psi. The stock springs, even the beehives are very light pressure for a valve spring.

That explains it just fine... I thought it was a stock motor...

sorry to bring back an old thread, but is there any advantage of using stiffer springs if I upgrade to 1.8 rollers?

I've emailed tom morana back and forth and he says the only thing that may be helpful with the rockers is some stiffer springs.

He wants 320 for the spring kit plus shipping, and he wants 400 for the rockers plus shipping.

Anyone have any advice? I definitely want the rockers and if the valve spring job isnt too hard I'd like to try them out.
