Just a question.... unless the 3.0 has a mint body and frame worth keeping, isn't is a lot easier to just sell the one truck and buy a 4.0 truck?

I've never done a swap. But the general feeling if you read around the forum is, if your going to go through all that effort you should strongly consider a 5.0 swap. Just as much work. The motors and donor rigs are widely available. More power not a huge mpg difference from the v6 to the v8.

515,000! Sweet!
They really are great little Trucks aren't they? I'm putting a 2001 on the road now, and I'm having trouble convincing myself the part with my 98. She pretty rusted but I know I could bring her back with enough effort and time.
Not knocking the 4.0 swap, just wanted to make sure you considered all the options.
Alas, I can't offer much technical knowledge, but I wish you luck!

If you hit 515,000 miles with the little 3.0, why not do it again? Then you don't have to change transmissions, harnesses, etc. What 4.0 were you thinking, the 4.0 OHV or the 4.0 SOHC?
