What I am doing is stripping the entire engine compartment harness and swapping it over to my 2.3 Ranger. (Mine is a 93' btw, and I'm swapping the 4.0 from a 93' Ranger. I came across the 93' just by luck.)

Anyhow, this eliminates any suprises, splicing, frustration, and self torture.

As for gearing.....31's are fine with 3.73's. 4.10's would be good, but a bit of overkill for DD. IMO, you don't need 4.10's or 4.56's until you hit 33's.

I have a 98 3.0. Am i going to be able to do a swap with a 4.0 easily as well? I haven't started doing a ton of research on it. I though i'd start here. I don't really care what year I get, but from what I read about your swap. if I get the same year, the wiring might be compatible. Not sure about tranny's yet
