hello, gotta question concerning my 00 ranger with the ffv 3.0.

currently the truck has an intake and flowmaster exhaust. what other mods can i do to pep her up a bit without sacrificng reliabiliy? how well do these engines take to hop ups?

i read the factory rated HP is like 150 and 190 ftlb torque. i am looking to get around 200 "safe hp" no nitrous or super charger.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Forced Induction, and bigger underdriver pullies. Roller Rockers. None of which is worth it. The newer 4.0's come pretty close to what you are looking for stock. It would be cheaper, and more effective to swap a 4.0L in. The 3.0L is a slugger, but extremely durable, and reliable.

If you read around this site you will probably relize you have spent hard earned money for things that will only produce an increase in sound level not horse power or torque, and may have even lost some power (ie k&n style intake kits, truck was built with cold air setup originally) The only real agains are through internal mods rockers, stroke, port & polish. Per most on this site, the 3L has more than enough breathing capacity in and out even to handle some of the internal mods. NOS is about the only possible off the shelf add on, forced inductions are one offs as there is not a commercially available units at this time.
However, gear changes can provide better response, under drive pullies will free up prasitic Hp and Torque losses.

I just picked up a 2000 4x4 supercab with the 3.0. Going from a 2009 mustang with a 100 shot of nitrous I can definately feel the lack of power and torque with the 3.0. Hence the reason my eaton m90 supercharger arrives in the mail tomorow. Should have it on in about 6 months....

sigh I think this has been asked before
These first 2 are probably the most popular
1.7 roller rockers
underdrive pulleys (check out http://stuffforyourranger.com/)

Also you could try an efan. Some people like them some people hate them.

Headers JBA makes some.

You have a 2000 right? if so then an xcal2 tuner would give you a little help.

Port and polish upper and lower intake. You can do this yourself, but im to scared of screwing something up.

Thats all I can think of right now. Search around and you will find some more stuff.

Get a SOHC 4.0, they make over 200 HP stock, the amount of money to gain 50 HP on a 3.0 will be staggering.

You won't be able to make 200HP in a 3.0 without a Huffer (old timer term for supercharger, forced induction). I've been pleased with the mods that I've done to my truck. I recently went to a 30" tire and may try to regear to a 4.10 to get my snap back. But it still pulls well with 3.73's. However, if you haven't got the truck or are replaceing a fried engine, I'd go with the 4.0. There's more goodies out there for them and the parts appear to be cheaper to me.
