i cant seem to find a straight answer for this. But i just realized that the flywheel on my 3.0 is about to explode. I am going to be swapping in a 4.0 engine soon but dont have all the equipment or funds at this moment. I was wondering if the 4.0L m50d-r1 tranny and clutch assembly would hook up to the 3.0L engine? The m50d-r1 i have right now is in dire need of being swapped out too!! I will only be having the 3.0L engine until the end of november if even that and i dont wanna replace the 3.0 clutch because i am gonna swap in a 4.0L...get the picture? So will the 94' 4.0L tranny and clutch bolt in place of the 3.0L tranny and clutch? Hahaha thanks for any advice!

No, you can not use the 4.0 tranny behind a 3.0L. They use different bell patterns. As for the clutch, that's a negative as well. The 3.0 uses an 8 7/8" disc, while the 4.0 uses a 10" disc. The 3.0 has a smaller diameter bellhouse than the 2.9/4.0.
