just got some 31 inch tires and just wondering if i will be to under powered with just a 3.0 liter engine with no up grades . any suggestions on up grades first?

go for it. I run a 3.0 with 31 tires and stock gearing. I can spin the tires fine. Theres plenty of power from the motor. I can have a full load in the back with these tires and haul it just fine.

watch out putting bigger tires on without regearing if you have an auto tranny.my cousin burned up two new trannies with his lead foot and 31's

If you want more get up after the tires, you could change gearing to 4.10's.

they dont rub. They fit fine and the motor will still have good power.

haha, all this means nothing if we dont know what gearing your truck currently has. "stock gearing" can mean anything from 3.08 to 4.10.

that said, a 3.0 with 31's and the proper gearing will perform just fine.

My 2000 3.0/auto 4x4 runs fine with BFG 31's. It has 3.73 gears. But, there's no denying that it works a little harder and uses a little more fuel. I like to say that it even works a little better off road, but really, the visual transformation from farm truck to off roader is what it's really about.
