does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to do a performance air intake for a 3.0 v6 ranger. k&n doesn't make one or any other company i could find. any help??:icon_confused:

I'm assuming he means an older one. Which i don't think one is available for. But i hope someone on here knows where to get one, cus i need more power my 3l is a turd.

they dont make them for 96. sorry forgot the year

Adapt a filter and make your own cold air intake hose setup.

Leave it the hell alone! The stock intake flows plenty well for a 3.0!

use the 4.0 one it fits.

The air filters for the 2.3L, 3.0L, and 4.0L are all the same filter! The OEM
paper filter will flow more air than the engines will pull!!

all you're going to get is a little more sound from your motor, you wont gain any HP with an intake.

they make like 3 horsepower at 4200 rpm.....for 280 dollars.
no thanks

Out law air there making one from my 3.0 then make them to sell!!

i have a coffee can with some paper towels in it for 300 bucks, you will gain 30hp too.

i also have another coffee can that makes cool noises and can get you another 30 hp that will replace you stock muffler.

jk
stock intakes offer plenty of flow for stock motors along with the exhaust dont mess with it unless your cool with paying a few hundred for some extra noise in either case.

Yup. If you want your 3.0 to go faster just keep the Rpms up higher, They like it.

if you really wanted to do all that work for minimal gains you could have a custom one bent with 3" exhaust pipe and actually have it routed somewhere where it is truly a "cold air" intake. PVC pipe has been done too..

edit: the best (and most importantly: FREE) thing you can do with your intake is cut the center post out of your MAF housing. You will notice a small difference in the butt dyno. Be careful not to damage your MAF sensor while doing this (I took mine out and stored it in a safe place while I cut with a hacksaw blade)

Cutting the maf could help, but I'd buy a junker MAF the same design, cut it, and use the electronics from mine. That way if everything goes wrong, it can be cheaply converted back.
