3.0 Id Help

I just purchased a 90 Ford Ranger with a 3.0. Before you think I went nuts :icon_twisted:, somebody removed the original 2.9 and replaced it with a 3.0. The issue I have is trying to figure out what year 3.0 I have. The motor is one with a distro vs distributor less ignition. Where are the casting numbers on the engine so I can figure out what I have. Right now I pulled codes and I get codes 84 and 85. The 84 is an easy issue as the solenoid is not present but my engine does not have an egr. :icon_confused: Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure on the location of the casting number but the presence of a distributor doesn't mean anything. All blocks can support a distributor or a Cam Synchro sensor.

Not sure, I need to get to the ECM and see if they had changed it to a 3.0 one or used the old 2.9 one.
