where can i find 3.0 headers for a 2007. ive looked on summit and they have them up to i think it was 03 or 04 and if those are the only ones where would they fit my 2007 its an automatic trans if that helps

AFAIK, the only issue affecting fitment is EGR vs. non-EGR. Otherwise, all the 3.0L Ranger headers are interchangeable.

The manufacturer probably hasn't gotten around to verifying fitment for the later models yet.

so any type of 3.0 headers will fit. we dont have emmisions testing here so im not worried bout the egr stuff unless its going to throw codes what would you do for headers i could porbally have some made at the race shop but that would be really expensive

Check to see if your truck even has EGR. Some of the newer ones don't.

The stainless headers on eBay are actually pretty well-made and you simply can't beat the price no matter how much you shop around. They aren't available for EGR applications, but if you don't have EGR (or if you are inclined to eliminate your EGR setup) they are the way to go.

If you do decide to eliminate the stock EGR setup, you will get a CEL and an error code. I'm not sure how you can eliminate the code other than with a tuner (Xcalibrator, for example).

im pretty sure it has egr its on the driver side of the motor i can see the egr modulator so i know it has one. i cant find any on ebaymotors the only ones i could find where for the 4.0 not the 3.0

IIRC, there was something odd about the wording in the listings for the 3.0L headers so it was sometimes tricky to get them to pop up in search results. Try some broader search terms and maybe you'll find something. They were about $100 or so, polished stainless tubing, and the TIG welds were actually quite nice--I posted photos here or somewhere (can't remember atm).

Alternatively, there was a site called LPP Performance, or something like that, that also had very inexpensive headers, possibly from the same manufacturer. I can't seem to Google them up right now. They too only carried the non-EGR version.

But in any case, to retain EGR with the non-EGR headers, you would have to have a pipe nipple welded to the driver side header collector. And it's not standard NPT threads, so you'd have to cut the appropriate metric threads onto the nipple in order to get your OE EGR fitting to mate up. That might be more trouble than it's worth for most people. :dunno: I decided I'd rather not fuss with it, so I sold them and got a set of JBAs.

jba has headers with the egr fitting in them down side they are about 665 bucks a pair i think im gonna go with them now im stuck with what size pipe i should go with and highflow cats or not and 2 cats or3 and what type of muffler like how long whats your opion?

I think the $665 is for the ceramic coated headers. Try the regular polished stainless ones to save some dough:

In my opinion, the stock Y-pipe and cats are fine. I'm not convinced you'd see any gains by replacing them on a non-boosted engine. Put that money toward high-ratio roller rockers and/or a more aggressive cam. I wouldn't go any bigger than 2.5" diameter for the cat-back portion of the exhaust either.

Muffler choice is a personal thing. I couldn't resist the deal on the Dynomax Super Turbo cat-back kit (they were offering a $75 rebate through the spring and summer) and I have been very pleased with it, even though it's only aluminized steel and can't be expected to last forever like the more expensive stainless systems from Gibson, JBA, et. al.
