I want to replace the auto trans in my 2000 Ranger 4x4 with a 5spd.

I just bought a 5spd out of a 93 Ranger 4x4. I got the trans, flywheel, pressure plate w/clutch, clutch master cyl and slave cyl, starter and the peddle assemble for $85.00.

When I look at the interchange for the flywheel it says 95-08 is the same and the 86-94 is the same so I was thinking they must have changed how it was balanced. But when I look up the interchange for the harmonic balancer (crank pulley) it shows the interchange go's from 87-00.:icon_confused:

Can someone confirm that I can use the 93 flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, master cyl and slave cyl in my 2000.

Thanks for any help with this.

i would just get a new flywheel. slave and clutch. they are pretty cheap to buy, and u dont wanna have to pull the trans in a few hundred milrs if something goes out

A new flywheel will cost $90, I can get the used one resurfaced for $30.
I plan on getting new master and slave cyl's and pressure plate & clutch.
But the 93 and 00 do not use the same clutch kit.

I have been doing some searching and have found that the 93 uses a 8 7/8 diameter clutch disk and the 00 uses a 9 1/8 disk this is possibly the difference in the flywheel interchange.

But that leads me to a new question we use to re-drill & tap the flywheels on the V8s with the 10" pressure plate so they would accept a 11" pressure plate from a 300 6 cyl, can I do this to the 93 Ranger flywheel to accept the larger disk?

I would strongly suspect is that the difference is in either the crankshaft flange or the bolt pattern on the crankshaft end of the flywheel.

I've never seen the bare ass end of a 2000-ish Ranger 3.0 so I really can't tell you...

AllanD, Thanks for the suggestion. I checked today and the 93 manual flywheel is the same outside diameter & tooth count and has the same bolt pattern as the 00 auto flywheel. I bolted it on the back of a spare 00 3.0 I have sitting in the garage.

Ive been doing some checking on the other parts, the peddles out of the 93 do not fit (I suspected this) I will get the peddles out of a 98 up Ranger.
The master cyl from the 93 will not fit, I will get a new one for a 00 Ranger.
The slave cyl is the same for 93 and 00 and I will also get a new one before insulation.

Thanks for the help. I will keep this updated as I progress with this project.
