I need to drain the remaining fluid on my truck and cannot find any info in the Hayne's book for the life of me. I've heard on mustangs its under the head location possibly on both sides. Can someone confirm where it/they would be on a ranger ? Much appreciated.

In the Hayne's manual it says to remove the block drain plugs when changing the heads as one of the steps.. ::shrug::

just undo the upper and lower radiator hoses. the heads hold a vacuum anyway and when you pull the head you'll slosh some antifreeze into the chambers. no big deal. i prefer a shop vac to remove the offending antifreeze:

Jesus christ theres a lot of fuild in those cylinders in that pic haha.. Yea well today i took off the lower radiator hose and ran some water through the radiator to ensure all the crap was flushed.. i noticed when i ran the hose through where the upper hose connects thee was some more crap (looked like a chocolate milk) almost but I'm pretty confident the radiator should be cleaned out well now.. Just keeping my fingers crossed I can get a rebuild head tomorrow and a gasket set so i can get my truck running for work Tuesday -=/

if the cooling system has been neglected (milkshake in the radiator), itd be in your best interest to run a chemical flush through the system once you get everything back together. sludgy cooling systems lead to cracked heads.

Hmm Ill check it out and look for it. I know they have flush kits and I would like to properly make sure that everything is alright since I've already taken the engine 1/2 apart basically. It would be time saved for future reference..
