Does anyone here know the crank snout diameter for the 3.0 Vulcan?

I am always experimenting and something that has pressed my mind is finding a nicer harmonic damper for the 3.slow. The main benefits of upgraded harmonic dampers include reduced vibration, a smoother engine, and overall increased reliability. Manufacturers usually have similar sizes for all of their crankshaft snouts so there may be a damper from another engine that I could retrofit. This engine may even share crank snout diameters with the 289/302 which has plenty of aftermarket support.

I would not count on the 289/302. The Vulcan engine is metric from top to bottom.
Does anyone have a 3.0 crankshaft lying around who could check the snout diameter with a pair of calipers?

If you don't get any takers with this approach, you could always try to find a balancer at a junkyard or parts store and measure the ID of the center bore too.

I do. But I won't be home for the rest of the week. Send me a reminder on Sunday and I'll measure whatever you need.

1-1/4" 32mm on a 2000, approximately.

EDIT: upon closer inspection it's 1.250"
32mm is 1.25984.. just a bit too large.

So after quick research, the Nissan VG33 V6 engine has the same crank snout diameter of 32mm. This is good news and may provide some options for harmonic dampers.

I said approximately, do you need the exact measurements?

there is .009" difference between the 2, 32mm is 1.25984.."

I'll have to dig a bit further to get a good mic on it.
