2wd V8 ranger

I have a 2001 swb Ranger Edge with the 3.0 V6. I want to do a v8 swap but was wondering if there are other easy options for engines besides the V8 explorer. i.e. Crown Vic, Grand Marquis or LTC. I know I need explorer engine mounts but was wondering about wiring. Will the explorer wiring harness work with an alternative motor, or will the wiring harness and computer from the donor car work in the ranger. I haven't done or purchased anything yet, STILL DOING THE RESEARCH.

Explorer is the closest thing to bolt in/plug in as you are going to get. The others can work but not as easily as an Explorer 5.0.

There is some cutting and welding involved with the coil ranger that I have read. I put my 5.0 in a 98 4.0 4x4 and only had to build a trans mount because I went with a f150 transfer case.

The OP has a 2WD Edge which is not a coil truck. The 5.0 Explorer engine mounts will bolt in without modification.

Dont get discouraged they are out there it took me 5 months to find one around me luckily I found a 2000 wrecked Explorer with 54000 original miles on it

Tallahassee. we have a Pic-N-Pull here and there OK. But I know a dealer that can get me in the Auto-Auction. I'll probably go that route.
