2wd turbo diesel conversion to 4x4

I got an 86 turbo diesel 2wd and a 87 bronco 2 4x4 i would like to put the diesel in the bronco but not sure what trans ill need im thinking the fm145 but not sure bronco is gas with a mazda tranny. Anybody know the answer to this?

It wont work trust me I am in the midst of doing the swap on my bii you need to get a m5od-r2 from a full size bronco or f150 they make an adapter that works with om617 which is the smart choice since the aaz vw motor is like 3k just for the motor. You c Oi und try a 4bt if you like but its just to damn heavy. Amd you would need a zf5or6 or c6 just ask if you need more info ask

Assuming the trans for the diesel has detachable bell housing then yes the FM145 BII 4x4 trans should bolt up to that bell housing.

He didn't say what engine he's using. Rangers of that vintage were offered with a diesel. Unfortunately, I'm unsure of the transmission options. I know swaps have been done because they originally came with a unique trans that seem to have issues (or simply died after 30 years of use...).
