how hard is it to swap a 2wd bII to 4wd, and whats all got to be done. will I have to pull engine and swap the cross menber? It looks like it would be easy to do just want some extra input.

thanks

very easy to do i am doing mine next month just need to make my extended radius arm mounts and good to go there is a write up in the tech section on what to do and what you need mostly just a transfer case, axle obviously, and the drop bracket for the pass beam, driveshaft, and shifter linkage

and how hard would it be to make a 2007 ranger Sport(EDGE) 5spd 3.0 into a 4x4, it has all the same suspension and clearance needed for one and it has the braces and stuff on the front to mount the front end, it has more ground clearence than my buddies 08 XLT 4x4 ? i know i gots to get a transfer case, and manual transfer case would be easier than electric prob. and hubs and front end but how hard would it be to hook it all up???

The whole front axle would have to be a custom job..IE SAS...The only vehicles the 2 to 4wd conversion is easy on is BIIs and pre 95 explorers...

no....sorry, you are wrong....

you can swap in the 4wd diff and axles out of any 4wd Ranger....it has been done on a couple Edge's on Ranger-Forums:

it isn't that hard at all since you have the Sport (Edge) model....a SAS is NOT needed and NOT the easiest way to make a Sport (Edge) model a 4wd...

I did it to my 88 b2 and it was easy as hell. Swap the Dummy t-case out for a 1350 manual floor shift, direct bolted in dana28, get driveshaft from a 4x4 b2, shifter linkage on the tcase. All good to go. Works very well.

thanks for all the help, I'll be doing the swap tomarrow. one more quest whats the easiest way to get the drop brackets off, I don't have a torch. any sugestions?

thanks DJ

As far as I know the drivers side beam bracket is the same for 2wd and 4wd b2s but you will need the 4x4 passenger beam bracket, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
