Hey guys, my other thread was getting a little off topic (due to me asking lots of questions) so I figured I would start my second search for data here.

I'm interested in swapping in the parts to do the 2wd -> 4wd conversion on my 89 B2. Could you guys let me know which vehicle the 4wd items would fit from? I found a 95 Ford Explorer Auto, would the 4x4 arms/driveshaft, transfer case etc... fit from that vehicle?

There is nothing in the front suspension of a 1995 Explorer you could use.

However a 1991-1994 Explorer or a 1991-1997 Ranger would make a splendid organ donor...

the ideal donor would be a 4.0 1995-97 Ranger (Twin piston brakes)

The reason for the year ranges I mentioned is they are all certain to be Dana35's

Other than replacing the pivot bracket for the passenger side beam
(the cast bracket that is riveted to the Engine crossmember)
it all basically bolts right on.

If you do go with the two-piston brakes the Drivers side brake hose
from a 1997 is the only one that will work.
For some odd reason only 1997 got the two piston brakes (which use different brake hoses) WITHOUT four wheel ABS.

Just to clarify, you would also need the t-case, and front driveshaft... Try to find a manual 1354 case...

I was looking at an electric 1354 are those no good? I kinda like having the switch etc...

Besides the obvious difference of manual lever vs. pushbutton whats the difference? Is one prone to issues?

The manual has been more valuable because its more reliable the electric one has some button and electric motor issues. Also the A4LD automatic is unreliable at least spend a little time on TRS on this issue if you want to run one.
