2wd Offroad Package

I wonder if adding the FX2 to a 2wd requires different pre-selected options that explain some of the price difference?

It is not on the truck builder site but FX4 does add things a FX2 wouldn't need like skidplates for the front diff and t-case.

Serious off-roaders know what they need to get max fun out of every adventure. And it’s all in the FX4 Off-Road Package.

Package includes:
• Off-Road Tuned Suspension
• 17-inch or 18-inch Off-Road OWL Tires
• Electronic-locking Rear Differential (3.73)
• Exposed Front Tow Hooks
• Exposed Steel Bash Plate
• Off-Road Screen in Cluster – provides feedback on pitch and roll, plus steering angle
• Front Air Dam Delete
• Skid Plates – Fuel Tank, Transfer Case, and Front Differential
• Terrain Management System™
• Trail Control™
• 4x4 "FX4 Offroad" Bodyside Decal

This is just another way for FORD to squeak a few more bucks out of Ranger Customers. It's so dumb that people even dress a 2wd truck to look like a 4wd, now this. Thanks for putting MORE posers on the road, FORD. I hope this is what ya'll asked for. So stupid. I think those R&D dollars should have went to a REAL 2wd street truck, instead of a cheap 2wd version of a 4wd truck. Did I say stupid, yet, because it is.
SSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPPPIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because a little extra ground clearance, traction, and under body protection is useless?

He's still butthurt about there not being a 2wd lowered performance version.

Actually I think the 2wd '19's sit the same height as the 4wd so they don't even have that going for them. It is basically all the stick on stuff for an FX4 that will stick on a 2wd.

I don't really see the point but I was split 50/50 if 850 would like that the 2wd's got some attention or would hate it because it wasn't lowered. :sneaky:

To each their own. I think more options and configurations is a good thing.

So, how do you really, truly feel about it? Go ahead. Don't hold back. Communicate with us. ?

you can get the FX2 and the black out package, and nobody would even know you spent 2k in add ons. No thanks

It's no different in concept than my 2004 Edge. It's easy to combine the 4WD chassis and the 2WD running gear, and you get a poser truck for very little development investment. The extra lift height makes it less useful as an actual truck.

I had planned on lowering it but the torsion bar mounts stick down far enough that I thought better of that.

That said, it actually handles fine even though it's lifted, and it makes service easier being able to get under it without ramps.

my ranger is also an Edge. i removed the blocks so it would look like a proper 2wd.
kept everything else, like the bedrails and black tow hooks.

Half the country could get by with that if they don't off-road. The other half, my half, has this thing called snow and a 2wd truck is about as useless as a screen door in a submarine 5 months a year.

If they don’t offroad they could probably get by without the skid plates, shocks and stickers too though.

Well no, you need the stickers. People don't see shocks and skid plates but they see stickers.
