I have heard much about leveling and lifting the front end of a ranger using the torsion bars, but was wondering after looking in various books (Ranger manuals)crappy chiltons, forums, and technical libraries if this 4x4 lifting/leveling technique applys to 2wd rangers as well? Specifically if it is possible on my 1996 2wd ranger? From what I have read and researched its for 4x4's and some books have said only 1998 up. What I hope to accomplish is a 2" front end leveling, to match the rear end. Also I would like to know what negative affects it might have on the truck and specifically on the suspension? Lastly is an alignmemt required, some say yes some say no?

Thanks
Jason

only '98+ 4wd and certain model 2wd trucks use torsion bars. all '97 and down trucks have coil springs. you can lift your truck cheaply using a set of coil spacers (check the tech library). you will need an alignment afterwards.
