2wd edge wheel travel?

I have a 2005 2wd ranger edge and was wondering how much front wheel travel is it supposed to have? How far should the wheel droop when on jack stands? Also is there a limit a shock can be extended to that would ruin it? I think I ruined my stock shocks on a big bump. I guess I could use limit straps if I knew how long the limit straps should be. Thanks!
