so im gonna start this thread to help those of us whom wanna lift their truck atleast 3 inches, and not blow the bank. it will involve some wrench time, but NO WELDING OR CUTTING OF THE FRAME.

Note, not my truck. but who evers, its pretty dope.

anyways, what i am starting with are two 4x4 lift blocks. Fords cheap way of jacking a otherwise normal truck.

I picked up these blocks from my local junk yard for $20. i swiped a U bolt so i knew what size id be dealing with, and went and ordered a set from ford. they are about 60 for new U bolts per side where i went.

Now thats a simple bolt in 2 inches in the rear. But to level things out we need to smooth things out.

Now you have 2 options. NOTE: im dealing with coil spring, i know some 2wd are T Bar.

for coil, you can make or buy coil spacers:

now this method will give you the height you want, but can mess with your suspension. If you say NAW to that, Your on my page.

I am going to be purchasing a set of lift spindles that will bring me up 3 inches in the front. Now since i sit and inch higher in the back as it is, Ill be level. and since i dont haul much of anything, it will work perfectly.

if after all this youd like to raise the back more, you can buy and ad a leaf kit for another inch or so in the back.

The blocks will cost you at most 150, the spacers can be free, and the spindles are about 500. the add-a-leaf is around 150 as well.

together with a body lift, you can get 5 inches of lift for under $1000

considering a normal 5 inch lift is alomst 2000, im ahead of the game! i will post pics of before and after as well. :icon_cheers:

alright, so the back is lifted thanks to my lift blocks and some new U bolts from ford!

Let the pic begin...

first off we have my truck, plainly stock other then the tires.

I took those blocks, along with the new U bolts and bolted everything up, after a bit of lunch.

The end result of this was exactly 2 inches of lift, and some rather extended 2WD shocks. (NOTE: buy 4x4 or lift shocks)

cant test it till i get some longer shocks, but i have a feeling going offroad will no longer be any sort of a problem! :yahoo:

next will be either coil spacers, or lift spindles, but thats for another day. all in all this 2 inches cost me $80, only because i couldnt get free U bolts. :icon_thumby:

FOR THOSE WHO ONT WANT TO SCROLL THROUGH PAGES:

alright. total cost of $550 shipped.

alright guys, the parts are in!

in order of work done!

Had a rubbing issue. you gotta bend the bracket toward the fender. also, to get the shackle bolts we had to disconect the shocks, as the hitch was in the way.

Looks like an interesting thread. I'll keep an eye on it, as I'm driving a little truck. I already get crap for driving a "mini-truck." Looks like I've got some new ideas on lifting my little baby. Thannks for helping the rest of us 2wdrivers out there 06!

no problem. i get the same crap. everyone calls mine a car. lol

I'm tired of rolling on little car wheels...:annoyed: 14x6's are awesome. Can't wait till I get some TSL's on em though!:icon_hornsup:

It is going to look great, Bro!!

In 2002 I lifted my 99 Ranger 2wd. I used a 3 inch Fabtech spindle lift, 2 inch over coils from Springtech, 4 1/2 rear add-a-leaf and it cost me only $400 with shipping on Ebay for everything. It took me and a friend 4 hours to do the lift and then I had to get the front end aligned at my Goodyear shop...$40for that.

Here it is with the lift kit installed:

And then in 2003 I added a PA 3 inch bl and my Yakima roof rack:

Looks good Stray! I love the rear end stripe on the bed. Was it a custom touch, and if so what's the significance?

i would kill to get some custom upper control arms to lift mine a bit more LOL
deff keeping an eye on this thread.

Get a shop to fab up some upper A's to the spec you want and that should do it.

Thanks, Bro. I made the decal myself many years ago. I had a decal maker and I thought up a neat idea. After I made a bunch of decals my decal maker died on me. It was made in China....lol. I made a bunch of them and sold them locally to Ford and Chevy and Dodge truck owners. I just made a different logo for the middle section depending on what make the buyer wanted.

Here is a close up of it:

That's really cool! I would want some if they were still around >:( Reminds me of the old Rumble Bee's and Super Bird's. Killer idea in the first place. It gives it a touch of personality.

picking up a set of rancho 3 inch lift shocks tomorrow. the front spindles are going to have to wait till next pay cheque. ill probably grab a lift shackle for the back, it give me an inch over level in the back. the nice part is with the lift spindles i get to keep my stock suspension. then who knows, maybe ill go for a body lift and gain 6 inches of lift up front, 7 in the back!:shok:
