93 ranger 3.0, i want to drop a 4.0 in it, is it a fit or am i basically better off finding another 3.0 to put in it?

This has been asked 1000 times and could be answered by a quick search

The answer is no, it is not bolt in at all. You would need to find another transmission with the right bellhousing for the 4.0

You will need a trans, wires, PCM. Lots of stuff. If you want a quick, clean engine replacement, go 3.0.
