Gentlemen,

I read this article in a magazine at work the other day, and i wanted to share it. its not a bad deal. $300 for 1 gal of primer, 1 gal of paint, 1 gal of clearcoat, and a can of activiator. all you need is a compressor, paint gun and mask.

i'm going to try this and give my blue ranger a new paint job (i'm choosing blue metallic). the OEM paint is finally starting to show its age, and the clearcoat is pretty much diminished.

hope this helps!

I am going to try the roll on rustoleum paint job one of these days.

i've heard of that Rustoleum Roll on also. I have a paint gun/compressor already, so for me i'm gonna try it myself.

let me know how that roll-on works for you!

i talked to a buddy of mine who works at the paint dept. at a collision place a few hours away from where i live, and he said the paint is a 4:1 mix for the gallon(s). so basically for my truck, i could get 2 coats of each (primer/paint/clear). not a bad deal.

I have line-x in the bed, so i wouldn't be painting the truck bed or panels.

I only use Sikkens, but thats me.

My preference has been Dupont Imron for durability.

Anyone know anything about the Summit Racing paint? I wonder who makes it for them.

Less than $100 to paint both of these...:yahoo:

The XJ was painted with tractor paint from the local ranch supply store for $30/gallon, the Ranger was painted with 2 quarts of a camo paint from the same store at $10/quart. Even buying tape, papers and plastic, and food and beer for my friends I was still under $100. Painted a week apart in my garage even.:headbang:

GRANTED, neither rig will win any prizes, but for 50/50 (50 feet/50 MPH) paint jobs, they work. And really, they don't look too bad up close either.:icon_thumby:

Man, I'm not sure how this would work for me.

I'd need white, blue and some red, but not necessarily a gallon of each and they sell it by the gallon.

I'm curious to see how it works too. The Splash I'm getting will need a new paint job.

i'll post pics when I get the truck sanded down and get the few body dings out of it. i ended up buying an industrial strength commercial fan to blow out all the stuff out (sandpaper shavings, etc) out of the shop. i just like the 299 deal because it has the clearcoat, primer, and base paint along with the activiator. i know TSC sells the tractor paint, but i guess i'm just picky about clearcoats, etc.
