I'd take it in a heart beat but I think my neighbors would kill me if I got another old vehicle parked around all the time.

If I or anybody could find one for under $500, I think the ideal truck to race would be a 2.3/M5OD 2WD extended cab.

The race is 11.5 months away. We need to get cracking.

I agree with the M5OD 2wd and 2.3 but why extended cab? Standard cab should be a bit lighter (probably not signicantly though) and shorter wheelbase so I think either cab option would work ok.

My thinking behind the extended cab was the truck would be a longer wheelbase & slightly more stability. Then again, the stability thing can be fixed with a good sway bar & a set of stiffer springs.
