210 to 220 degrees too hot?

70$ is a good price for one... i think the one we put into my buddy's ex's jeep was 120 local, plus core

Replaced the water pump and radiator. Ended up snapping two bolts off on the water pump, got one of them out with vice grips and beating a socket on the end of it, the other I wasn't so lucky. After an unsuccessful attempt at using an easy out, I just used a Dremel and smoothed it off even with the block. Caked some RTV in there and put it back together. Got new bolts with lock washers from Ace to replace those old ones. I tried to torque it to the 7-9ft lbs with my torque wrench but I couldn't get it to click, and I was afraid if I turned it any tighter I'd snap those too so I just snugged em up tight. On a side note, **** the guy that invented that fan clutch nut. It's a super pain in the ass to get back on. Filled it back up with water and burped it, let it sit for about 15 mins and it didn't get over 195. Took it for a 20 min ride (what would make it get up to 230-235) and it didn't get above 200. I think I might be in the clear. Holding the old radiator in one hand and the new one in the other I could tell about a 5-10lb difference in weight, so I believe it just had too much "cholesterol" in it and it wasn't circulating like it was supposed to. The old water pump, and I think it was the original since it was a Motorcraft, didn't seem in bad shape, the fins were all still there. It did have less resistance than the new one, new one seemed to require a little more effort to turn, so maybe the bearing was going out on the old one. I'm hesitant to say that it's fixed, as I still need to take it for a longer ride, and I want to use some Prestone flush in it. For the moment it seems to be good though.

glad you got it fizxed!

Got to the gas station and went in to pay for gas, came back out and I had a leak coming off the lower radiator hose. That's right on the side where the bolt is missing on the water pump, but I'm fairly confident that the hose is bad where it hooks to the water pump. It's probably the original hose from 21 years ago, and it has those shitty bolt tight clamps, gonna replace the hose and clamps tomorrow and take it for another ride.

Glad your keeping your cool now lol When ya put on new hoses keep in mind you will probably have to retighten them a few times...I had to do mine several times cause it kept seeping at the hose to the water pump.

Everything seems to be good now, hasn't gone over 198, and it runs mostly at 190-195 while driving. Hope this helps out anyone else that might have similar problems.
