i like my old school thermostat that you bump the slider with your finger and no one can change it when you are not looking

You must not have a wife or kid.

My mother fixed that issue when my sister kept cranking up the heat. She hammered a nail through dial.

They have locking covers to mount over them, they are common in public buildings and businesses.

This was in the late 70s, early 80s. They might have been around then but not a common thing then. I think the hammer and nail drove the message home.

We used to have window unit AC in our old house. One was in our room and one was in our Son's room at the opposite end of the house, and fans distributed the air (sort of) through the rest of the house. One morning it was muggy inside and I found he had opened the other half of his window "because he was cold."

i bet tons of people are mad about those wifi thermostats. they all thought they were so cool at first. not so cool now. i like my old school thermostat that you bump the slider with your finger and no one can change it when you are not looking

I think they're awesome because I can adjust the thermostat when I'm not home.

That is what i thought originally. But than i heard about people going online and changing people's temps so that made them a no-go.

The wife wants it set cooler So she can sit in a blanket on the couch. That was the dumbest thing to me, set the temp so you need a blanket? What the heck?

My thermostat is set at 72 when the a/c is on and 68 during the heating season. I can turn the knob a couple times a year without adding electronic trinkets that cost money and could be hacked.
