TRS Event 2026 Carlisle Ford Nationals

I'm all registered for the event and the campground.

"To answer the question, yes. This is a huge event, there is all kinds of spectator parking, all kinds of food, all kinds of events all weekend, etc., there are campgrounds available and you can get a clean hotel for 60 $70 a night."
Most of this is true but hotels aren't that cheap. Last year when I booked the guy stuck me in with the Mustang group( I own one but I'm not in their club) that had reserved a bunch of rooms and it cost me about $400 for Thursday night through Sunday morning. This year their rooms were all taken so the room is costing me close to $700 for the 3 nights.
If you aren't afraid of driving a little bit. York is only about a 30-45 minute drive down PA-74, bunch of hotels down there

I haven’t registered yet since the Road Ranger has been sick all winter. While it seems like I’ve solved the problem, I’ve barely driven it. I’m going to change that this week and start driving it. Once I’m sure it’s OK, I’ll register.

I did get a sign-up form in the mail, and it had this 10% discount code if you register before April 13

I’m pretty sure I’ll be there, I just want to make sure of the truck. The last two years I had problems getting up there has the 10-11 hour trip turned into a 13-15 hour trip. I don’t care to duplicate that this year as my bones keep get older. Having said that, I ended physical therapy about about two months ago, the first time I haven’t had therapy since 2014. I’ve lost about 40 pounds, and I don’t feel great, but I don’t feel nearly as bad as I did.

I appreciate the suggestion but it's a full day to get there and another day to get home, that's enough travel time for us.

Well, the Rosd Ranger has been running pretty well for two weeks in a row, so I bit the bullet and registered for Carlisle Ford Nationals!

Current plan is to drive up as early as possible Thursday, which will put me there Thursday dinner time, hopefully without an adventure this year. I’ll be staying in a hotel, hopefully the same one as last years. I plan on being with the group on Friday, showing in my category on Saturday, then being with the group Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, then rejoining the group Sunday before I head out. I’m planning on the Saturday night parade, too

I can’t wait to see all you guys again in the new and Improved Road Ranger

Car pooling anyone???. Or should I say contraption pooling?

Both times I went to Carlisle last time, I had some issues. They were relatively minor, but they still ate up a few hours on the road on an already long trip. I’m not planning on making that mistake again this year, the truck is in better shape than it’s much better mechanically, and I plan on having a bunch more spares and other things from the shed of miracles on board should anything act up. But if anybody wants to catch up and tagalong together just in case, my plans are flexible. This includes folks who may not be driving up, who would like to tag along.

I plan on leaving Atlanta Thursday morning, early (7AM?) and then taking 85 north from Atlanta through Anderson, Spartanburg/Greenville, SC (9-11am?), up to Charlotte, NC (12-1:00?). Then I’ll turn left on 495 to 77 past Winston Salem (2:00?) and then catch 81 north (3-4:00?). Then the marathon up 81 to arrive in Carlisle about 7, 8-9:00PM.

Again, I’m flexible. With that long trip and big rig, I prefer to stick to the interstates, but I have no problem getting on and off to meet somebody, I just don’t want to go up on surface roads. So if you’re anywhere near any one of them, let me know if you want to coordinate.

I also have walkie-talkies, and I could also hook up a portable CB if somebody doesn’t have one.

On Sunday, depending on whether I win an award or not, I plan on leaving out at 11 or 12 and being back in Atlanta at midnight, back tracing the same route.

@Curious Hound, I did think of you on this. If you want to go, but you’re nervous about driving up by yourself and/or about even taking a vehicle, I could bring extra ratchet ties, and stretch you out on that flatbed step trailer, and rig up some kind kind of spraying system run from the cab to shoot a little water over you to keep you cool from time to time.

Anybody interested, let me know. There’s a small chance the cute little brunette may come with me, but I’m not planning on that just yet.

I’m also getting a hotel room about 10 miles away if somebody wants to split cost on that. It’ll be me and Lincoln and…..

Make a reservation now or you're apt to be sleeping in your truck. I made hours months ago and the hotel was almost booked then.

I’d like to make it this year but it’s too early for me to commit to anything, green Ranger needs to be up and working again before I can make plans. It’s on my list and I need it bad, but I’m making like a one-armed paper hanger with everything that needs to be handled “right now” to put me in a better position to finish my welding as the weather breaks here. If anyone wants to volunteer a weekend or something to help fix a few things here, I’m not gonna say no, lol.

Thanks, I did book a hotel. I’m running late this year because I wanted to make sure the truck was running OK.

Afterthought, but if anybody wants to chat about carpooling or maybe riding with me, send me a private message and I’ll send you my phone number. No pressure either way, we could just chat about it.
