TRS Event 2025 TRS Fall Colors Campout

I regret to admit. I just called him this morning to make a reservation. My check will get mailed out tomorrow morning.

With that said, i wouldn't sweat it. He is not great with computer stuff- website design, email, social media, etc. He's a good guy. It's just that life is very simple in that area, especially with the radio blackout. He told me today to just let him know a day or so in advance, regarding what time I'll be showing up. The campground, especially tent camping, won't be crowded. I voluntarily told him I would send a check with dates, email address, and any other pertinent info. The term "laid back" would express extreme formality in this situation. If you have records that he received and deposited your check, I would consider that adequate.

For JohnnyO, with a camper and probably wanting water and electric hookups, things are slightly different. He will be in the upper part of the campground if he wants that stuff. Those of us in tents or more self-sufficient will probably have almost the whole lower loop to ourselves. We may take over the spur that heads down toward the railroad tracks. I'll figure that out when I get there, also with weather forecast considered.

I plan on getting there on Wednesday and staying until Sunday. I'll draw a simple sketch of the campground and post it here before that week.

I hope we get some more people coming. What is there that isn't awesome about crisp fall days in the mountains in October when the leaves are colored? I guess I could offer hot mulled cider.

How about this; if we get a total of 4 or more people/families actually 100% committed by Sept. 20 (not counting me), I'll do campfire pizzas Saturday night.

We are planning to be there Thursday. Jessica's daughter will be along for the trip. We just have to figure out the logistics for packing the gear and not needing to bring the utility trailer, if at all possible. The truck is setup for two, not three but it is also a shorter trip.

Getting close.

Who else is coming out?

Come on. You know you need a break.

I definitely need a break but I can’t afford a break…

We're still in. Got new tires a little early since I'm towing a trailer.

We may or may not be towing the utility trailer. It depends on if I can shoehorn three people's worth of stuff into the truck. Since the trip isn't as long as the Colorado trip, I might be able to do it. I also won't be bringing as much "just in case" gear either.

As promised, here is a rough drawing of the campground. I will set up near one of the 2 red X's depending on availability. Johnny, you will probably want to stay in the upper area to have hookups for the camper. I'm sure campers are allowed in the lower part, but I don't recall any utility hookups down there. But the upper area isn't great for tent camping. So, tents normally go down the hill. You can call Mr. Gum when you get there and see what he says or walk around briefly to look things over. The choice is yours.

The weather forecast is looking awesome with highs in the low-mid 70's and low temps in the lower 40's.

I'll be driving up on Wednesday. So, from Wednesday evening on, I will only have internet if I drive into town.

I will unfortunately have to be with y’all in spirit. Ranger is still down and I don’t have the money to go anyway. On the plus side though, if tomorrow goes well, I should be able to resume work on the Ranger on Wednesday…

I somewhat know how you feel @lil_Blue_Ford .
My truck's still out for the count

And I can't even get it to get up at this time at all.

I hope things work out for you @lil_Blue_Ford .

I also hope everyone that's goes on the outing has a good time.

If only my rich uncle would get out of the poor house and give me some money.
:nopityA:

It’ll work out one way or another @ShhhhhDougsHere

Just been a lot of unexpected stuff going on and people being difficult. Is what it is. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and praying.

I truly agree with most of that statement @lil_Blue_Ford .

I feel I got to clarify a little.

I've found that for me, the main person who causes me difficulty or stands in my way IS MYSELF.

I still keep putting off getting a real job everyday.
And I know for sure that I truly do need to get a real job.
I've got old Debts I really really need to pay.
With current bills on top of that as well.

i am still in Utah....so no sneaking in for me...was supposed to go to myrtle..so i had some hope of at least a visit

of course.....the odds are slim i will make anything untill around next november due to relocating and working on new digzz... unless its literally something i am driving by for work..

Trail hero?

I'll be putting the drawer system deck back together and the equiment back in the truck. Then I get to see if I can shoehorn the extra stuff for Jessica's daugher in there and still leave enough room for food and clothing.

I'm still not sure if we will be bringing the trailer or not. Since there is a doubt, I'll make sure it is ready for the trip.

I never did get any kind of confrimation from the campground but they did cash my check. So, theoretically, we should be good to go.

Same here on the confirmation. But it'll be ok.

I just checked fluids and topped off all the grease zircs. Re-arranged one of the boxes to fit the new air mattress. Went grocery shopping last night. Next is to wash some dishes and make sure the kitchen box is packed. Then I'll start packing the baskets for the refrigerator and plug it in to get down to temp.

I'm actually in pretty close to ready. I was afraid I might have a water pump or something to replace. The last few times I started the truck, the belt squealed pretty bad for 10-15 seconds. But I found that the tensioner mechanism needed a little slippery juice. It wasn't springing back freely. All good now.
