2024 vs 2025

yes, the vacuum ones, yes. the 25 have electronic boosters though, no vacuum lines to it. thats the ones on the recall i believe.

my 24 isn't on the recall

Apparently, there is an issue with these turbocharged engines not providing enough vacuum for the booster, or at least a potential one. I don't know, my 2019 seems to work just fine using vacuum.

Just like when they switched from a mechanical system to electric for the steering. Mechanical seemed to work just fine, but here we are. Not to say that there isn't a time and place for it. People here had looked at the Volvo system to address and issue in the past.

Just more electronics to jam up the system when it crashes for some reason. Just like the electronic clutch fan that took out five or six other systems when the harness got damaged. That put the truck in limp mode and took me two days to trouble shoot and find the issue.

A couple years ago I was bucking snowdrifts trying to get to my house with my F-150, I either got snow in the alternator (cleverly mounted on the bottom of the engine) or on the belt, the system saw the slip in voltage and put me in "low power mode" which killed all non essential electrical systems... such as the electric power steering and defrost/heater. About by the time I actually got to the house it had come out of it.

Really neat the only way to get a factory front skidplate on a 2016 F-150 to avoid this is to get a Raptor...

I know those with 70 series Toyotas had to dead with that problem on the V8s for the same reason. They resorted to very expensive alternators that were sealed and cooled some other way other than air to fix the problem. I think they may have been liquid cooled. Anyway, the alternators are mounted on the bottom of the engine and caused all kinds of problems. So it seems that Ford isn't the only one.

Between that and halfway ripping the airdam off it was quite a confidence inspiring maiden snow voyage....

Some alternators are better at dirty environments than others for sure, I used to get into that with combines.
