2024 Ford Ranger Raptor

At first glance... it looks a bit underwhelming. Raptor should have been left to the full size truck... Ranger and Bronco should have had their own name.

I saw some recent sales figures for the mid size truck segment. Toyota owns it. Period.

There is still stuff to figure out with the new gen offering... I just hope Ford had their sites set high enough.

I agree about the name. If I say Raptor you should know exactly what I'm talking about. I especially think the Bronco should have a name that's horse related.

Ford shouldn't be chasing the midsized competition, it should be leading it.

I let a friend of mine who drives a 19 Tacoma drive mine the other day at lunchtime. He said he couldn't believe how much nicer it was to drive and responsive the ecoboost was. Might have converted him haha

I think that's what the new generation is wanting. Mine has the 8 in screen which seems big enough for me. My sister has a new Durango and all the climate control and stuff is only on the screen. It almost 1 yr old and been in twice for work on it. I wanted a STX but the only 1 on the lot 4x4 didn't have the rear locker. But I've been really happy with the screen now. I can run my nav apps and stuff right through android auto. So it all worked out.

I didn't even want the dinky screen my 2019 came with but since it was either that or the larger screen with more controls built into the touch screen, I went with the small screen.

Haven't had a Ranger since my 2002 FX4. Bought a V8 Sport Trac in 2007 then traded it at the end of 2018 on my current '18 F-150 4x4 SCrew with the 5.0L.

I really am impressed with the what we have seen so far of the 2024 Ranger Raptor. Unfortunately, I also expect that it will not be available to actually order and drive for at least another year and when it is there will be hefty dealer ADMs.

All that has me more interested in an XLT with the Tremor package assuming of course there will actually be a 2024 Tremor. If it can be had with the 2.7L EB that would make it even more appealing. Sort of a Raptor Light but with better payload and towing numbers. There has been some vague info recently that suggests the 2.7L will be available in the non-Raptor Rangers but I'm not holding my breath on that one either.

2024 is the target year for the Bronco based Ranger to come out. If that happens as planned, I can see the 2.7 being an option. The current T6 based Ranger supposedly doesn’t have a big enough engine bay for one.

Ford.com says the Raptor comes with front and rear lockers.

yeah.....and in the dyno cell cuts...all of the gas engines can fit....of course....not all of them can pass NVH or EPA requirements....but they can fit.

NVH....well....anything new has better NVH then my rigs....so not an issue.

i would rather have the overseas diesel raptor....and not the particular diesel and tune it came with....but it would be a good start. WAYYYY better mpg.

i looked at some used rangers and a jeep gladiator far out edition.....

if i buy a brand new truck...i can see it being the jeep if they can make it happen....it was the same price as my 150 at 75k..... the engines reliability leaves a bit to be desired. but i know people running on 35 in tires getting 20-21 mpg at 70 mph....and so far so good in the gladiators. i also know a few dodge pickup guys that went through hell early on....

best i can tell....the raptor will be the same price.

the jeep is much more capable as a truck...and a wheeler over a regular ranger....and i am too old to go do raptor stuff. pretty tough call.

because if i buy a new truck....the old ranger will be scrapped....and the b2 will probably be relegated to trailer status.

i would rather update my ranger and buy a CTS-V cadi with a manual trans ...or a c6-c7...or some sort of a hellthing.....unless i can get a decent cuda resto mod for the same price....

my son in law has plenty of crazy exotic stuff to play with....

i was offered a pretty good deal on a godzilla this week. but i dont think that will fly to good with the wife....

and thats still better then all you meatheads with the regular ones...:taunt:

So what's with the 2 lighted on/off switches on the front of the new bronco...

The Ecodiesel is not long for this world, if they haven't quit making diesel Gladiators they will be soon.

The 3.0 is kind of the diesel for guys that really want a diesel but don't really need one and are bad at math IMO. I am not much of a fan of them...

yup...they said they were done with them. but they do think they can get a few....they are OVERLOADED with the ram pickups.....so i was hoping that would be a way to get a deal...but there was a white rubicon somewhere...actually i think its just an up model rubi... they call it a far out....pretty much they were all ordered and almost all recieved so it is a long shot which put a damper on my plan to get a deal...

when i was looking at 6.0 engines awhile back i seen a bunch of 2.8 duramaxes also out of vans....so i figure that could be a fallback position....though gale banks has a hell of a motori program....so if i could get it 20k under....having to replace a smoked stock engine wouldnt be horrible.

sad to have to think that way to buy a new truck...lolz

then....there is a new version of the jeep hybrids not unlike my powerboost they were saying could be in the works....i said that would be interesting as well and get me to buy... and that ford was supposed to do that to the rangers.... and it would be a seller if they can give me a 3500 watt hybrid baby powerboost
as that makes overlanding an instant win. i will have a 6 or 7 foot bed in either case and just deal with the wheel base.

for the price of a raptor....i really have to see them up close to see if its worth hacking up.

Can you tell us more about that? Please.
