2021 Bronco = Spring board to the 2023 Ranger

So if the Bronco will be based on the Ranger, wouldn't that then make it a Bronco 2? Since the original Bronco 2 was a vehicle based off the Ranger platform...so shouldn't the Bronco 1 be based of an F150 instead of a Ranger if they're creating 2 different Bronco's again? I mean it would make more sense to continue in that tradition than reverse it.

Who knows, but from the looks of it, the front end will be IFS :(. That crap don't work well offroad, heck even hitting a few potholes on the highway will knock it out of alignment, just imagine trying to drive it on a rocky trail. So how many of those new "Bronco's" will quickly be sporting Dana 44's or Dana 60's LOL.

Wasn't there some rumor a while back too that Ford was going to resurrect the "Courier" name too and build a smaller truck than the Ranger? I haven't heard anything about that either, anyone else know of anything about that too? I'd be interested if they did that, and gave it a regular cab but with a longer 7 foot bed. Offroading don't really appeal to me, but having a small truck that'll handle some backroads for hunting and camping duties with a part time 4WD system would be quite welcomed...and just keep the interior electronics to a minimum...maybe a work-truck model without the touch screen stuff?

That makes sense... the MustangII and the Pinto shared suspension parts.
Also, the Maverick shared the same taillights as the Pinto... so maybe they *are* all the same...

Oh, no!!! They ARE the same. All Fords with horse names. We figured it out. What a diabolical plan.

I think the spin they are taking is the Bronco, even if it will share the frame of the Ranger is that it's getting closer to the original Bronco format, which was smaller. Plus, the Bronco Sport would be more along the size lines (not capability obviously) of the Bronco II.

IFS isn't ideal for off road for sure. Again, speculation on my part, Ford is going after what the larger market share is going to use it for and that isn't going to be off road. You might be right on SAS projects being done to rectify that issue.

Not much has been heard on the Courier. Your guess is a good as mine on what is and isn't being done on that front.

As far as a regular cab with a long bed. That concept seems to have died with all the vehicle manufacturers. Most are offering an extended cab as the base and I don't think any of them offer more than a 6 foot bed. If memory serves, the 7 foot bed Ranger didn't last long and didn't sell well. Finding one is like looking for hen's teeth. Some still are out there but are a rare find indeed.

Getting base model with hand cranked windows and minimal electronics seems to be dying away as well.

The Ranger is about the same size as a 70s or 80s f-series with a shorter bed. The 2nd gen + Bronco was based on those trucks. Which means the new Bronco should be about the same size as the full sized Bronco used to be. Hence, not a BII...

That would be great if they took the Bronco back to the original 60's and 70's size, I liked it. Too bad it'll be hampered by a turbo charged engine as I'm sure they have no plans on putting any N/A engines in any of these upcoming vehicles :(.

So I guess I better keep the 87 Ranger Custom 4x2 long bed I picked up last month LOL. Hoping the TPS I am waiting for in the mail fixes the acceleration issue because other than that problem the truck runs and drives great and has pretty low mileage on it at 114k. Pretty clean otherwise too, just a very small dent on the lower fender by the rear bumper, and just a bit of the lower dark blue paint has faded with 2 very minor surface rust spots that I found and will be correcting this spring.

I wouldn't mind skipping the electric windows and locks, seems how both my Bronco 2 and the Ford Tempo I had required window motor replacements LOL, less stuff to worry about with hand cranked windows, and the power locks in the Bronco 2 don't work either LOL. I don't mind powered stuff but dang at least built it so it can easily be repaired when it breaks because we all know that crap breaks.

50's maybe. 70's-90's F-Series isn't much smaller (length/width) than a new one.

Sounds like their going for high speed desert runner, not creeping along in the mud and rocks. Seems to me like their loading the cars with a lot of crap, so they can charge premium $$$. They dont care about your 4x4 or my street truck and are telling us "THIS WAY", you dont want that, you want this, yeah, this, this is the new thing. Thats why they did the BRONCO R, press run thing.

Well, with global warming there will be more desert, so maybe not such a bad marketing move....
Plus I think world markets are more into desert/overlanding than rocks/mud, so again not such a bad marketing move.

The mule looks like more of a okish crawler than a racer.

I see more 4Runner than Raptor in it.

Thank you all... It’s really been bothering me that everyone says the Bronco will be on a Ranger chassis. If the Bronco comes out first, wouldn’t that be the other way around?

That's Ford's fault. The Ranger returned first, and then they said the Bronco would basically be built along side of it and share its platform. So if the Ranger is already here, and the Bronco comes after, and they share the same underpinnings......

Long travel suspension and big sidewalls make traveling on pothole filled streets a lot nicer too.

With the condition of a lot of roads anymore. It’s more of a need than a nice thing to have. LOL

Actually, I think "maverick" is bovine, not equine.
