2014 Tundra "Poop" Color

Sarcasm. You missed the sarcasm.

I am well aware of the fact that the gas pedal sticking was largely user error. Just like the Explorer flipping over when a tire blew out.

I laughed at that one too on the Explorers. That was all driver error as well. Then comes all the new cars with hundreds of "safety" features to protect the stupid people from their lack of intelligence. However every winter you see those safety features in the ditch :icon_confused:. Thought it was supposed to make the vehicles safer LOL. Umm no matter of safety can prevent stupid people from operating whatever it is they spent millions of dollars in research to make it safer.

I saw a new explorer the other day and just had to say WTF is that thing, it looks like the new Dodge Durango surprisingly enough. All these made in Mexico parts they all look the same.

Yep. As it once was explained to me... it's a Ford, not a Ferrari.

And as far as the massive tire failures causing the thing to magically flip over in the ditch...

I experienced a Firestone tread separation in my Ranger. At the time I had a cap on the back and the wheelbase is relatively similar to an Explorer. I'm sure with the cap and the gear I had in the truck my center of gravity was slightly higher like an Explorer at the time as well. The tread separation happened around 3am while I was rocking up the highway on my way home from my GF's at the time doing about 80 mph. BLAM! And the wheel twitched (front tire). I let off the gas, carefully applied the brakes and began downshifting as I eased onto the shoulder. The only dangerous part that I had to deal with was calling my dad and asking him to bring the spare tire and jack that I had left sitting behind my parking space at home earlier that day. His response over the phone is not repeatable on a family-oriented forum, lol.

And yes, I've noticed in recent years that most manufacturers seem to be making new vehicles that look vaguely like Dodge trucks... :annoyed:

Couple years ago I was driving through our local cycle park just out for a drive on a backroad and ran across some idiots in a Toyota 4Runner who apparently haven't figured out that they are narrow and extremely top-heavy especially when you try to sidehill one of them. They flipped it end over end back down a hill. They tried to go straight up the hill realized they couldn't make it, and tried to turn around WTF. It was just a bit on the smashed up side, if it was mine I would have just cut the top off and drive it in a convertible setup :icon_rofl:.

I like the paint color on the Toyota, not the truck itself. I'm one of the rare buy American cars and trucks type of person. The interior color looks like high fiber poop.

My Truck was built in San Antonio Texas? that's not American?

I don't care about that so much as I do that it has the design inspiration of a potato.

The earlier ones are like a 7/8 scale F-150 knockoff, that alway struck me as rather cheesy. Kinda like the old Cellica to the Mustang.

I had a Mitsubishi Eclipse, yes it was technically built in Illionois but I am not going to kid myself that most of the parts and engineering didn't come from overseas. I loved the thing, if I could I would buy a new one just like it.

Made in Japan and assembled in Texas ?
Don't mean to offend anyone. I'm just a Ford guy that is sad to see the imports taking over and the the Big Three going away. I worked at a Ford dealership for 18 years. It was the first of many Ford dealerships in my area to close down, The Chevy dealer in my area also closed. The Toyota dealer that was next to the Ford dealer I worked at is still open.

To quote one of my buddies:"You can't make anything idiot proof, they'll just build a better idiot."

And about that 1794 edition...the interior looks surprisingly similar to a King Ranch as far as colors go. I guess Toyota liked Ford's idea.

No. All that does is help pay the American (most likely Mexican) people who screwed it together. The rest of the money goes to a bank account in Japan. I work for the US division of a German company, you want to argue it then go ahead but your money went to Japan.

This is where I enjoy wrenching on my Dakota. Built in Michigan, by people from Michigan with parts that say Made in U.S.A. on them. Most comfortable, reliable, well behaved truck I have ever owned. Quite frankly, it blows the doors off of my wifes 2012 Camry in the comfort and ride quality department. Not only that, but every time her car goes in for scheduled service, it comes back with a random bolt, screw or plug tossed in the drivers side door arm rest. Something tells me Toyota has some inadequate clowns working in their service departments as well.

:icon_rofl:

I would have to admit to being an inadequate clown...fortunately, I don't actually get paid for having extra parts laying around from something I've taken apart...

Happen to have a special box that weighs about 10 lbs that contains, mostly...leftover parts...or spares, as I call them...

What year of Dakota?

My cousin has a late 90's one with a 318. Going down the highway if the headwind hits it right it honestly sounds like someone blowing on a kazoo inside the cab. Right after he told me that I met another one I could hear over my truck with both of us doing 55+mph. :icon_rofl:

I load a 24' ladder on my truck and it angles from the tailgate up to my home-made headache rack...going down the highway with the right angle of wind blowing and it also sounds like a kazoo...first time I heard it I was wondering "WTF is whining now..." and then I laughed when I remembered I had the ladder on...

They probably have an open end pipe somewhere on the front frame...stuffing rags in the hole would eliminate the noise...but it may take some trial and error on the frame...

Bet that US version of that German Company all the money from it goes to Germany then as well.

If all the money from my truck purchase went to Japan then how are the employees at these plants, dealers, etc. paid? Very little if any money goes to Japan.

70K on my 08 Tundra an no issues, 124k on my grandfathers 05 Tundra and no issues and it towed a 27' fifth wheel travel trailer most of those miles.

Dealerships are just like any other, you have good ones and bad ones.

Like I said earlier I don't expect anyone on a Ford site to like anything but their Ford, don't even know why anyone brought up the color issues, as I remember the early 80's Fords had some pretty ugly ass brown color schemes as well, far worse than the Tundra. Also, Dodge has the same paint color or pretty close to the Tundra.

I didn't mind my 99 Dodge Ram, until the dealership screwed up a simple clutch/throwout bearing replacement, then refused to fix their mess. That was the first and last Dodge for me. Unfortunately I really liked the 318 engine though.

'95 Club Cab two wheel drive, the boxy ones. The only wind noise I hear is a healthy 5.2 magnum barking out of two 3" tail pipes :3gears:

All the money that is NOT used to sustain the company and pay employees is under direct control of the Germans, yes (my pay check is even signed electronically with the company presidents name, a German). Same with Toyota. I'm not saying Toyota makes bad vehicles by any means, nor did I say all of the money you paid for your truck went right to Japan.

Built in Texas with parts from Arkansas, Kentucky, and a few other states. Less than 20% of parts comes from Japan, mostly the electronics are Japan. Bet you guys start looking around your trucks you'll find a ton of foreign parts on your "American" truck.
