I got to BWI last night and got a nice surprise at Alamo: mixed with the Sebrings and Impalas was a 2012 Focus. Dark gray 4-door SEL, black leather, sunroof, 17 inch wheels. Only 500 miles on it. It is really impressing me so far. Good power, very quiet and solid, and the Sync works well. 32.5 mpg in mixed, mostly highway driving. Feels more expensive than it is.

Yup, Focus is the wiener.

theyre nice little cars. i know alot of people with the older zetec hatchbacks and they love them. very cheap, reliable, and good on gas. i actually was pretty close to getting a 2010 myself, a black 5spd coupe with gunmetal 17's. damn nice for an economy car. but i ended up going with a 2004 mazda 6 v6, my baby hahahh

I really liked the quality of the interior. Nice leather, the dashboard was soft-touch, the trim looked like real metal, the switches worked smoothly.

On the way out of Alamo, I hopped in a 2012 VW Jetta to compare, and it just felt cheap and plain, with its vinyl seats and stripped-down instrument panel. Then a Chrysler 200 (aka Sebring), which is better than the previous version, but still just felt like a cheap car with a thin veneer of luxury on the surface.

I am thinking hard about a 5-door Focus now. Want one, don't want a car payment, though. :D

I've also been considering the 2012 5-door Focus.. It's a nice sporty change from the previous Focus. I have a car payment as is, so have a new car with a payment wouldn't be a big change. I'd just check parts pricing. The reason I'd get rid of my current car is because replacement parts are EXPENSIVE.

I have about 7000 miles on my 2012 5 door SE moon 16in aluminum 6 speed auto and just love it. It is a little doggy off the line but after you get going it scoots right along. 2.0l with 160hp just walks over passes. It is nice filling up every three or four weeks now it gets between 350 to 400 miles with 11 gallons mixed 60% hwy. The nice part is you can shift like a manual without the clutch. At 50 mph on the flat it goes over 45 mpg but those stretches are few and far between in western WA. On a 5200 mile road trip WA-CO-TX-AZ-WA I averaged 35.2 mpg with alot of mountain passes. Shes a keeper

I thought I heard that the 2012 focus takes alot of the styling from the Volvo s60 sedan.

I don't like the tail lights or the rear in general, but it otherwise looks really nice.
