2011 Ranger XLT 4X4 - "Business Casual"

Tom Morana actually tried to convince me to strap an Eaton M122 to my 2.9 the other day.

The M122 is 122 cubic inches. the 2.9 is 177-179 cubic inches (depends on who you ask).

I needed a minute after he suggested it.

Sounds like a good idea.

Soon.....

Dooooooooom.

Doooooooooooommmm

Insert dumpster picture here in your tiny little mind.

:joke:

I have a bunch of blowers here. I still have the mount I made. Don't think I haven't thought about twin charging.....

The Lancia Delta in rally spec is my spirit animal. Any 4x4 twin charged 1.8l hatchback blasting 4' flame columns out at 720 wheel hp in 1986 is a God compared to what we were working with in the era.

In 1986, world rally cup was doing 160+ across grecian ruins and in the forests in Finland.

The average speed of a nascar race in 1986 was 120 mph.

Yeah........

It's bodywork is mostly scoops to keep the fire breathing Satan fueled hellbeest in the trunk contained. Rumor has it that they had an actual portal to hell in place of an engine. Nobody has ever been brave enough to look.

...........give me one good g*ddamn reason I can't make a sh*tbox first gen into that.

This is America. **** you. ✌🏿🤘🏿🖕🏿🙌🏿🍆

Well git it awn den moth focklz

Any progress? Any suggestions on a good rebuild kit for the M90?
I'm not sure mine really needs it. It seems to be okay, but I'm curious, so I'll probably open it up and take a look. I've still got a couple of weeks on the back-ordered kit from ModdBox, I hope I don't get screwed.

None yet. Still trying to get the 2.9 back together. I'll start the blower build once it's back on the road.

In 91/92 Ford motorsports had a factory option for a centrifugal supercharger. They are 1100 buck used rn maybe 2 of them 🤷‍♂️

Well. I put the new diff cover on, and made some unfortunate discoveries.

Said diff cover:

Noticed on a long drive the other day that my diff was scalding after a few hours. Sprung for the mustang cover to help.

The good news is that the Ford diff cover definitely keeps your axle running cooler.

The bad news:

I need a diff.

Starting to step back from this thing and wonder if it's worth it to keep going with it.

Ping issue still has not gone away. Any time this thing is under 2500 RPM and you're light on the throttle, it pings lean like crazy. Already changed out maf, all egr components and sensors, ECT sensor, metal thermostat housing with new thermostat, plugs, wires, coil, fuel pump and filter, and a few other things.

Hitting the point where I'm weighing my options between keeping this or trading it in on a gladiator or Tacoma (I will NOT buy an auto, sorry (not sorry) Ford).

****.

Your ring gear pic looked better on my phone :fie:

IMO Gladiator > Tacoma

I don't like sitting on the floor and the engine is out of a Prius or some disposable car like that. It is like a slightly bigger version of an engine from Ranger land named after pointy eared aliens.

Issues are just stacking up against this thing... Still have the holes in the bed and rot at the bottoms of the doors to deal with as well.

Although not at all enthusiastic about the price of a gladiator 😒

I have yet to find a late model truck where I can get enthusiastic about the price...

I just want a midsize with no rust and a manual. IDGAF at this point what badge is on the grille.

Why is this so stupidly difficult....
