2011 XLT 4.0 auto. Just turned 4000 miles.

Just normal driving along yesterday and my check engine light came on. It's running fine, shifts normally. So, here's the kicker. I go to the dealer, since it's close by home. I walk into the service dept., Their shop has 2 vehicles in it, 10 open bays, and a bunch of mechanics doing nothing. So I figure they can scan it, see what the issue is. NOPE. 'come back tomorrow at 830am' Even though they were open for 3 more hours, and they were obviously not busy. Completely annoying. At least I get a free loaner while they have it....but it's a 4 door Focus:bawling:

One other thing. I am having a loud thump while driving, idling. It's so bad that it shakes the floor. Anyone have any idea what it could be? I've heard noisy fan clutches before, but no way it should be this loud and being able to feel it in the cab.

All I can say is, thank god for warranties.

Won't guess at either without codes and/or the truck in front of me. Just get your thump on the RO and if you have time to hang around take the guy working on it around the block to show them.

I just realized I can pull the code. I keep forgetting I have a tuner from one of my past mustangs that will read any OBD2.

At least you have a warranty. If the CEL comes on on my truck, I have to scan it myself and figure out whats wrong. I hate doing that.

Dropped it off 6 hours ago. it went right into the shop. no word yet on the problem. it acted up this morning. rough idle and intermittent power loss. driving a loaded 2012 focus for loaner. sweet car.

What about the thump? Did you ask them to check it out? One thing I will say is since that truck is under warranty, I would not mess with it. Let them do their thing and when you are out of warranty then do your thing. The dealer may decline you service if you mess with it in any way since they may charge you a fee if you caused an issue. Just be careful, Bro.

Called me right before they closed yesterday. The CEL was due to the fuel cap somehow broke so it wasn't sealing. So they ordered a new one. The thump has been reproduceable, now they are working on why it's doing it. So now 2 days without it.
